Finding the Monsters
Ryland: "Shhh! Did... here that Mama?"
Me: "What did it sound like?"
Ryland: "Monsters..."
Me: "I don't know, it sounded like the neighbors next door to me."
Ryland: "Yeeeah... Maay-bee..."
Me: "You know monsters aren't real, they're for pretend, make believe. You're not scared of those monsters, right?"

As I remeasure myself to get my dress form to my new smaller size, it makes me think about how a recent non-mother called me fat. PHEW! I saved Christmas.
Instead of rubbing elbows with all the other parents on Black Friday and camping out in front of Toys R Us, I decided that having the toys come to me for free was a better deal than anything. (I love a good deal but I’m really not a morning person.) So I ordered Ryland’s Christmas gifts online.
